Parashat Yitro 5773
I’m trying to understand what Moshe said to God just before the giving of the Torah.

Since this week’s parasha recounts the giving on the Torah on Har Sinai, here’s a word search puzzle on that theme.
I think it’s hard to start with any topic other than last week’s election.
Rivkah writing at Bat Aliyah tells us that it took only ten minutes to cast her ballot.
Earlier this week Lisa and I had the privilege of attending sheva berachot for newly weds David and Tova.
I volunteered to say a davar Torah. I’m sharing the part of it that ties in with Parashat Beshalach.
Today it happened.
The city cleanup crew arrived to take away the debris from the recent snow storm.
Ten days ago Israel was in the middle of a major winter storm.
There was lots of rain.
So much that reports of the Kinneret raising double digits in one day became old hat.
It’s coming soon … just another week and a half … Tu B’Shevat.
Are you ready?
Do you know how to check your fruits to make sure you’re not eating any BUGS?
The other day it was reported that former Chief Rabbi Rav Ovadia Yosef said that yeshiva students would be better off to leave Israel rather than be drafted into the IDF.
I waited to comment on this.
I was wondering if there would be any sort of clarification or retraction.
It’s amazing how some events are permanently written into my memory.
I was standing in the home of my friend Yitz about 20 years ago.
He had just learned that Feldheim was publishing an English translation of the Mishnah Berurah.
My jaw dropped as my yeshiva-educated friend said, “I don’t need it. The Hebrew of the Mishnah Berurah is pretty easy. But I’ll buy it anyway … and it will become a crutch for me.”
